I welcome spontaneous applications by motivated individuals who would like to join the Land, Environment and Development lab.

Prospective undergraduate students:
Contact me regarding honours supervision, independent study projects, or part-time or summer research opportunities. When contacting me, please provide a CV and copy of your academic transcripts. Please note that I will not be supervising honours student in the academic year 2023-2024.

Prospective graduate students and postdoctoral trainees:
The departmental deadline for graduate student applications is January 15 each year. Contact me as early as possible to discuss research interests, suitability, and feasibility. Please also read the available information about graduate programs at the Geography Department and/or the Institute for the Study of International Development. When contacting me, please include the following:

A short description of your research interests and skills, and of the reasons why you would like to join this particular group;
A copy of your academic transcripts;
A copy of your CV or resume.

Make sure to explain in detail why this group is a good fit for the research you would like to conduct. I will not reply to generic requests for supervision from students who cannot demonstrate converging interests with my research and appropriate skills. Please also note that at the moment, my program remains focused on issues of land use change in South America, and I will prioritize students who are willing and able to join that line of research.
